{"id":346,"date":"2024-09-12T15:28:44","date_gmt":"2024-09-12T08:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/host.macrosoftnet.com\/cookbook\/?p=346"},"modified":"2024-09-13T05:49:20","modified_gmt":"2024-09-12T22:49:20","slug":"crab-curry-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/host.macrosoftnet.com\/cookbook\/2024\/09\/12\/crab-curry-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Crab Curry"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>For the base<\/strong> ingredients:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1-2 tbsp sesame oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp whole black pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-3 whole dried red chilies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A few curry leaves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 large onion, chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-3 tomatoes, chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp tomato paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 tsp turmeric powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1-2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1-2 tsp coriander powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp cumin powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp garam masala<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt to taste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1-2 lbs crab, cleaned and cut into pieces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Water as needed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For the coconut curry (Mommy&#8217;s Version):<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\/2 cup fresh coconut, grated<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 onion, chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp fennel seeds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Heat the Oil:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a wok, heat a little sesame oil over medium heat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add Whole Spices:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When the oil is hot, add whole black pepper, dried red chilies, and curry leaves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Saut\u00e9 Onions:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Add the chopped onion and saut\u00e9 until light brown.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add Ginger-Garlic Paste:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute or until the raw smell disappears.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add Tomatoes:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mix in the chopped tomatoes and tomato paste. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and mashed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add Spices:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Fry for about 5 minutes, allowing the spices to blend well with the tomato mixture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add Crab:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Add the crab pieces and fry them, making sure they are well-coated with the spice mixture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Add Water:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pour in enough water to cover the crab. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Coconut Mommy&#8217;s Version (optional):<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While the curry is simmering, grind the fresh coconut and quarter onion together into a paste.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add this coconut paste to the curry once the initial boiling is done, and let it simmer for an additional 10 minutes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Seasoning:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a small pan add oil add fennel seeds and few additional curry leaves to the curry as a final seasoning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Serve:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Serve the crab curry hot with rice or bread of your choice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Instructions:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1001004,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-346","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-south-indian-receipes"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
